Michael's commitment to this work is deeply personal . As a young child, his strongest attachment was to this father. Following his parents' separation, that relationship was lost, leaving a profound impact that Michael would only fully understand years later. The experience gave him an early appreciation of how attachment, loss and trauma can shape lives and relationships.
That understanding inspired a lifelong commitment to supporting vulnerable children and families.

Early in his social work career, Michael experienced a devastating professional challenge involving the loss of a child known to services. Equally traumatic was the experience of being required to give evidence in court during the proceedings that followed. The combination of grief, responsibility and intense courtroom scrutiny became one of the most difficult experiences of his life.
Rather than walking away, Michael made a decision that would define his career. He committed himself to mastering the art of giving evidence—returning to court, learning from every experience and developing the skills needed to communicate clearly, confidently and professionally under pressure.
Today, Michael is recognised for his expertise in Family Court matters, forensic social work and expert witness testimony. He is trusted to provide assessments, report and evidence, and has trained and supported social workers. Michael will continue his commitment to train and support police, government agencies and organisations to strengthen their own professional practice and achieve better outcomes for children and families.
